Helping Refugees

Our country is in a mess. In most places, there is peace and peoples' lives continue as normal. However, in one area of our country there is constant fighting and hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes. For those that can't leave or don't want to leave, they live in the basements of their buildings as fighting and explosions take over their neighborhoods.

Thousands of refugees have flooded into Odessa. During the summer, it was a safe haven for people because there was a sea and lots of places that were open for them to stay. Most planned to stay a few weeks, but they have now been here for over three months. They didn't plan to bring with them warm clothes, school uniforms for their kids, supplies for so long, and important things that they may never see again.

Our hearts reach out to these people because they are our fellow country men and they are in need. God places in us the desire to help and then provides the resources in order to do so.

We are in the process of opening a center to serve the needs of these people, but for now we do what we can. We have been serving as a liaison between churches, organizations, and people and the refugees. This past week Nasledie Heritage Foundation was given many school uniforms to pass along to the children. We were also given money through Ukraine Without Orphans to buy food and a few personal supplies for 14 families. We had the families come to our center and we helped the kids pick out new uniforms and passed along 3 big bags stuffed full of groceries.

Please pray for our country, pray for these refugees that have no where to go, and pray for us to seek out how we can help them.
