We had a great time visiting the kids in Zhovten during the
marathon visit last week, but we decided to visit them again on November 10th,
the National Day of Prayer for Orphans in Ukraine. As always the children were
very happy to see us and hug us again. We gathered all the children in the
auditorium first to watch the movie, “If Only I Had A Green Nose,” by Max
Lucado. We also watched another Belorussian film called, “The Silent Prayer.” The
kids enjoyed both short films.
Then we divided into small groups and had craft time for the
smaller kids and discussion time for the older kids. The discussions in general
were about the dangers of alcohol, how it can affect your life, and how
alcoholism is a disease affected by many in our culture.
At this time, many of the children are ill and we were
warned that they were in isolation. However, they opened the door to us and we
were able to spend some time with them making crafts.
It is always a blessing and honor for us to visit these
children.
